THE FIELD DIFFERENCE

Changing the world, one boy at a time.

With a forward-thinking social emotional program designed uniquely for the middle school boy, our students explore what it means to be a young man in today's world and learn to develop a deep sense of power through authenticity. Field graduates go into their communities confident and clear on who they are, inspired and ready to make a positive impact.

Irresistible Learning

Our students love to learn. We take pride in creating classrooms that provide strong academic rigor (differentiated math, multi-tiered Spanish, advanced ELA, science & humanities, etc.) while consistently providing inspiring content, room for physical movement, space for continued curiosity, and opportunities for students to share their unique perspectives. Other aspects include a robust build space, a passion-to-purpose class, and an ongoing advisory program.

Our Community Agreements

In our first year, we gathered with our pioneer students, families, and educators to create our original community agreements. At the start of each school year, we gather again to address these agreements, make edits as needed, to make sure they grow and evolve to reflect our commitments.

  • We start by checking in with the self (our emotions, our bodies, our privilege(s), our needs, and our hopes), and we speak for ourselves.

  • We presume positive intent, and we own our impact.

  • We build up and allow each other to develop autonomy, and we explore without judgment of us as people.

  • We put care and effort into what we do and recognize that to become life-long learners we embrace that mistakes and failings are inevitable and are opportunities to grow.

  • We create and maintain open space, and we embrace and use diverse perspectives to discover things about ourselves and each other.

  • We believe that purposeful feedback is a gift, and we aim to give honest, direct, and compassionate feedback.

  • We understand that we contribute to and collectively create the culture of our community. We work together to build a community of care, cooperation, collaboration, support, and dialog.

  • We respect others: their personal space, their individuality, and their unique differences.

  • We leave spaces better than we find them.
