Field Middle sparks curiosity,
builds integrity, and inspires change.

We are a progressive, independent middle school designed to address the unique academic, development, and social/emotional needs of boys during their middle school years. We provide the space, safety, and support boys need to become tomorrow’s engaged, inspired leaders.

Meeting Boys' Unique Needs in Education

Field Middle became a reality when the founders recognized a gaping hole in the education landscape for middle school boys. While there are all-girls options on the peninsula that address the unique needs of girls at the same age, no such opportunity existed for boys.

It was clear that the community needed a school specializing in an educational approach tailored for boys: hands-on learning, integrated curriculum, projects that allow boys to build and create, and—perhaps most importantly—provide a safe space to enjoy successes as well as failures and experience the emotional complexities that come with the middle school years.

From Inception to Graduation

We kicked off our pioneer year in Fall of 2021 with our first 6th grade class. In Spring 2024, those boys graduated and have gone on to attend private and public high schools around the Bay Area.

Today, Field enrolls a group of diverse boys from elementary schools as far south as San Jose and as north as Millbrae. Many of our students take public transportation to our school.
